It it looks right Wilder will fight him and beat him..
Povetkin brings a lot of money, and he is the second best heavyweight in the world in a lot of peoples opinion.

Other than Wlad hes the best fight out there for Wilder

I agree and think Wilder will fight Povetkin if he doesn't get a Wlad shot right away..

I don't get the logic in why Wilder would ever vacate the WBC belt? In what scenario would this make sense? Why are we even having this nonsensical discussion?

Not only is the WBC belt a major world title, it's arguably the most coveted in boxing; it's a huge accomplishment to win this title and a bigger bargaining chip in securing fights in the future. The titleholder receives the lion's share of the purse (when defending it) and it practically guarantees huge paydays. Why a fighter would give that up is beyond logic and good business sense.

What is WBC 's policy on unifications?

Would Wilder be able to pass over mandatory for Povetkin if he is lining up a unification with Wlad?

Yes. If he starts negotiating with Wlad before the deadline with Povetkin, Povetkin is on standby.

It's really moot though because the WBC isn't going to strip Wilder barring some ridiculous situation where Wilder is fighting guys ranked 100 in the world to avoid fighting Sasha. We have to look at this from the perspective of these sanctioning bodies. Do they want to spend the next ten years sanctioning Wilder-Joshua, Wilder-Fury, Wilder-Jennings fights or sanction a 35-year old Not-marketable-in-the-West Alexander Povetkin to fight another unwatchable travesty against a 40-year old Wlad Klitschko before becoming totally irrelevant? It's no contest really. The WBC is looking out for its long term interests..

People thought he'd duck Stiverne then some were saying he'd get exposed, Wilder proved many people wrong. I don't think he'll vacate the WBC belt, he'll fight Povetkin at some point.

                    Yes.

The WBC rule is he can delay the mandatory with a unification fight.

But he won't fight any live opponents. The "We Be Crooks" will permit him to fight as many hapless journeymen as he wants.

Prediction: In September Wilder will fight the weakest possible opponent the WBC will sanction.

No chance, either K2 come knocking in September ôr a huge purse bid from Ryabinsky comes to the fore, either way Wilder is sitting pretty. That belt is too lucrative to just toss away.
