End of the GBP TR cold war never happened

So we all remember the bob arum and oscar press conferences and joint interviews after schaffer and haymon left gbp about how they were going to be all in for the fans and end the TR GBP cold war and went on and on and on about it. They made one ****ty card of fighters they had no real plans with and declared the cold war was over. Well now that a good amount of time has past i think its safe to say it was a complete PR campaign aimed at al haymon. Nothing more nothing less and I still cant believe people actually fell for that crap. What big fight have they made? Matyssee vs provo was not even a top rank gbp showdown and thats as close as we got. Im just curious what some you guys that hate al haymon think about this now that its plan as day these guys are no different. the reality is haymon fighters have been fighting other promoters star fighters more then gbp and tr have. Just curious your guys opinions cause I myself thought it was nothing but a pr campaign from day 1

I think it ended, GBP has just not enough quality fighters. They have a few prospects, and they have Lemieux, Canelo and Matthysse. That's all. Quality TR match ups only for Matthysse now and I think we will see him against TR opponents.

Lets see they made Abregu-Ali not forced by purse bid. They made Benavides-Herrera not a purse bid. They made Gradovich-Velez also not a purse bid.

Top Ranks just gave Golden Boy a slot on their Trutv series where Orzocos beat Emmanuel Taylor too

they better end it soon because neither camp has enough quality fighters in their stable to stay exclusive. this is where hbo should step in and tell them they're not going to continue payng for lacklustre in-house match-ups

but arum has been doing this since long before the 'cold war' was ever official. basically if he's given the choice between sharing proceedings with another promoter or keeping all of profit for himself, he'll opt for the latter every time. he has been a cancer on the sport for a long time, and one of the few benefits of haymon's revolution is seeing the old man marginalised and pushed out the door

what boxing needs is for the sanctioning bodies to stop playing promoter and start enforcing rules

see i dont count fighters where top rank is not actually making the decisions like provo where they basically just help and split profits i dont count those and like i said they did a few at beginning and that was it like the fight to make right now that makes the most sense is crawford matyssee but i dont even think they would consider it

Oscar has like three names and a bunch of up & comers in his stable. Not much to work with. Top Rank's stable isn't the greatest right now either, but in comparison it's like an all star team. I have a feeling that has a lot to do with it. If Oscar had a deeper stable I think they'd work together much more frequently and top rank would want his guys fighting Oscar's stars (but he really has none besides Canelo).

If Oscar had bigger stars he probably would. Remember Pacquiao was matched against nothing but Golden Boy fighters for a while.

Sure Bob would work with Oscar even in a star match-up because Bob is going to get the end of the deal he wants when dealing with Oscar. If Cotto stayed with Top Rank the Canelo fight would still likely happen probably more likely so.

Really the only guy that GBP has that meshes with a bit of Top Rank is Matthysse. Some fights involving him could possibly happen but Matthysse needs to keep winning.

I guess Saddam Ali as well.
