Comments Thread For: Matthysse Eyes 147 Jump in 2016, Pacquiao Clash

Lucas Matthysse (37-3, 34KOs) hopes to achieve his dream in September, when his fight with undefeated Ukrainian Viktor Postol (27-0, 11KOs) is likely to happen for the vacant WBC junior welterweight title.

Matthysse has often discussed a move up in weight to 147-pounds, but refused to do so until he capture a world title. He and Postol were both waiting to fight champion Danny Garcia for several months. Finally Garcia vacated his belt and moved up in weight.

Postol is a good fighter. I'd like to see Lucas just focus on him right now.

It will be fun when he does move up to 147. Some great fights to be made there.

matthysse is too small for 147 and pacquiao would beat him up any way.

incredible that at the age of 32 (33 in september) lucas can still make 140 lbs without problem, same weight he fought in the ams. while others in their 20s can't. a testament of discipline.

If we get Mattyhsse/Pac in 2016 it's pretty much guaranteed to be at a catchweight of like 144lbs. If he beats Postol I'd be interested in the match.

i'm not sure he could hack it at 147 lbs against big, slick guys like brook, thurman and spence jr. he should stick to jr welter imo
