Holmes vs Spinks 2

Watched the fight again recently...and turned the volume off and saw and watched every punch thrown and missed along with who hit the most significant blows,keeping score ,the score also seemed off,it was almost a bizarre lopsided fight in contrary.....Had only spinks winning 3 rounds after the 7th with one draw and Holmes getting 9 rounds...this MAY be the worst decision in boxing HW history,he basically ran from holmes from round one with the exception when holmes rested in the 3 rounds he lost....almost Spinks fighting not to win knowing he would win if he just lasts?

I auctually think spinks deserved a split nod , holmes started quick but I think spinks edged his way back into the fight.

Holmes could have KO'd him in the first fight and still lost!
The second fight was just heaping it on to Holmes for his brashness.
It's just the way it was going to be back then.

Holmes completely dismantled him basically with one hand barely using the right hand only in spurts of straight rights which hardly missed the target of Spinks face ,snapping his head back and rocking him round after round with stinging jabs it wasnt close at all,even the rounds Holmes lost he fired back ,most of the rounds were lopsided schoolings by Holmes .The ones who made it SEEM remotely competitive were the announcers which is why i dont study footage with the volume on,as its usually a different fight .

Holmes won for sure, in fact I didn't think Spinks really did enough to beat the champ even in the first fight (he did great, but I think to relieve the champ of the title, you should have to really convincingly beat him!)

Anyway it's as dummy Corso says this time..

Holmes kinda didn't earn much respect from the wider community and after his comments about MArciano, which were obviously true but shouldn't have been said, he had no hope of any favours in the second match.

Holmes definitely won the rematch, but I might add that Spinks won the first fight and deserved to lift the title from Holmes.

I was shocked at how easy Spinks landed on Holmes in the first fight.

Too bad Larry got screwed in the rematch. He won at least 8 rounds.

Funny. This one of those controversial decisions where I agreed with the judges. Last time I watched was probably 4-5 years ago will have to watch again in near future.

Haven't watched the second just watched the first fight. Holmes gave his title away he just wouldn't let his hands go enough and when he did he couldn't sustain it. It was close and a lot of spinks punches barely landed or did no real damage but you could see everytime Larry hit him it hurt, but spinks was just more active. Larry's jab was on point but nothing else. It was kinda sad because Larry seems like a good guy who doesn't get his just do. I wonder had that fight happened 2 or 3 years prior would he have been able to get Spinks. I'll watch the second and come back to post on it.
