How about a Super Six at Welterweight?
Entrants:
Kell Brook
Keith Thurman
Amir Khan
Danny Garcia
Shawn Porter
Errol Spence (if people feel he's too inexperienced he could be replaced by Algieri or even Broner.)
Mayweather is about to retire (not 100%), so why not pit the new generation of Welterweights against each other to crown a new king. All the fighters are in their mid to late 20's and the Super Six usually lasts about 2 years-2.5 (it'll be better if they let them have longer breaks in between fights). I know it won't happen, mainly due to money issues (since they're all PBC and I'm sure Brook wouldn't have a problem competing in it); but it would be interesting nonetheless. Who comes out on top?
Say tournament starts early next year.
First round: Brook vs Khan
Thurman vs Porter
Garcia vs Spence
Second round: Thurman vs Garcia
Khan vs Porter
Brook vs Spence
Third round: Garcia vs Brook
Porter vs Spence
Thurman vs Khan
I made the rounds quickly, just tried to make sure we didn't have rematches in the first three rounds (examples: Brook vs Porter II or Garcia vs Khan II). So this doesn't have to be the actual rounds, just an example.
I think most of these fighters will be more than happy to avoid each other and eventually some of these fights won't ever happen (some will take losses to lower leveled fighters or they will become washed up out of nowhere). So why not try to force/make this? (of course there will be several problems with starting it, but it's all for fun right now.)
This is also one of the few divisions where a tournament is possible. The only fighter they would have to get on board is Brook (since he is not PBC) and of course they will all have to agree to participate (which is uncertain).
Well anyway discuss.
