I have been hearing a lot of people saying Holyfield would have beaten Tyson in 1991, but does anyone here think he would have lost against Tyson during that time?

In 1991 he was what, 205lbs? Surely he would have went slugging vs Tyson just like he did Bowe and that would have been a disaster.

And Tyson didn't go to prison yet.

    I would favor Tyson.

It's hard to watch Holyfield's early heavyweight title fights against guys like George Foreman, Bert Cooper and Rid**** Bowe and favor Holyfield.

Of the early 90's versions of Holyfield, I think the one that spent a couple fights with Manny Steward would have had the best chance at beating Tyson, I'd still favor Tyson.

I would have a hard time favoring any version of Holyfield against a pre-prison Tyson.

I do think Tyson at his best beats Holy at his best in a close and grueling fight. I don't think Mike could have beaten Lewis.

No absolutely not. Tyson is not on holyfields level.
not including the tyson wins holyfield has a lot better wins.I Hate how real deal is overlooked and underrated. Bowe would have also stomped out Tyson.

No. Holyfield is and always was too much for my boy Tyson. Too much heart.

Heart is the difference at that level.

I love watching old Tyson fights and do it regularly, but he only had a puncher's chance against Holyfield. Evander's ring IQ was too much for Mike. He knew how to neutralize him and rack up points while keeping out of danger and would have done the same in 91'. I'd give 88' Tyson more of a chance against any version of Holyfield because of how aggressive he was. The more disciplined Tyson was always going to get beat by Holyfield.

Tyson was what, 215 at the time, maybe slightly more (I'll have to boxrec that). Anyway, in terms of the guys Holyfield had already fought and beat (Holmes, Douglas, Stewart, Foreman), this wasn't really a big weight advantage so I doubt the weight would be a factor in this fight.

What would be a factor is that Tyson was faster now than he was in '96 but then again Holyfield was younger, more fresh, hadn't gone through the hell of the first Bowe fight and still had tonnes more heart than Tyson.

I think Holyfield still wins but it might have gone the full 12.
