When has broner ever outbox anybody?? All he did was overpower smaller guys before. Now that he is fighting guys his size he cant do ****. Matthyse and prov would beat him up. Throwing 300 punches for a 12 round fight is pathetic.

The man was trying to hard being a mirror of Floyd Mayweather. He needs to attack and let his hands go more often opening up his opponent to counter shots but he allows his opponent to smother him without a reaction outside of clinching. He lacks heart, not the heart to keep you going but the heart to push through difficult situations and his pure lack of respect for anyone is down right ridiculous. What's crazy is people act as if Mayweather is bad, this fool is down right ignorant!

Broner is just not that smart and his offensive variety is limited. He needs to ask himself how bad he truly wants it

Why don't people ever consider that Broner doesn't have the stamina to let his hands go like they want him to, or that he isn't smart enough to adjust when his opponent isn't at a certain range?

It has nothing to do with being held back or in a cage. He just can't do what people keep saying he has to.

The truth is Broner is way too flat footed, and more importantly he doesn't have the work ethic of an elite fighter, too much posing and not enough substance to anything he does. He doesn't switch his stance up either, that wide ass foot placement he has is terrible for his mobility.
He's not small. He can barely make 140. They moved him up because he wasn't going to stay at lightweight anyway, not for long.

His problems have nothing to do with size. His problems have everything to do with no longer being huge compared to his opponents because he doesn't have the skill to beat guys his own size. He can't wear down smaller opponents like a bully anymore.

              I watched the fight again.

Broner wanted to walk him down. But every time he would throw his jab, Porter would slip it, duck under it, or shoot his own jab and get inside where he was working Broner. That made him very hesitant for much of the fight.

It's not that he's inactive. He's not a smart fighter and cannot adjust when his plan A goes out the door.

Both of Broner's best rounds were followed by rounds where Porter absolutely owned him with the jab and killed Broner's momentum. Dude had no idea what to do about it.

All the talent some say Broner has is something I can't agree with. He has a decent offense and good power but he seems to have no defense against guys like Porter and Maidana who come at him hard and fast with a two fisted attack. He doesn't slip or block punches and he doesn't counter punch. His talented defense is to grab the other fighter's arms and hang on for dear life. He set a world's record for holding Porter last night and the referee should have put a stop to it right away with warnings and then point deductions and then a DQ if the holding didn't stop. Porter fought a very good smart fight. Broner fought like a scared rabbit trying to avoid punishment. Broner is gun shy.

Broner fights so much better out of the high guard with offense on his mind. when he shells up he cannot transition back to throwing meaningful shots

he can still be defensively responsible (actually more so) out of the high guard vs in the shell.

Broner puts himself in the cage. One thing I noticed is he gets discouraged and put off his game when a fighter won't let him have his way in the clinch.

Porter decided he wasn't just going to get clinched and do nothing and that discouraged Broner because he couldn't settle down and pick a punch to throw.

Broner is better as an offensive fighter but he can't figure out how to think 2-3 steps ahead. If he doesn't have space and time to think he gets put off his game and fighter with bounce in their step can surprise him.
