Comments Thread For: Photos: Lemieux Bests N'Dam in a Wild Montreal War

David Lemieux won the IBF middleweight title by beating Hassan N’Dam N'Jikam on points in Montreal, Canada, on Saturday night.

Cameroon-born N’Dam, who now lives in France, was knocked down four times but got up to fight on every time.

Lemieux won by 115-109 on two cards and 114-110 on the third in a performance that should earn him a place among the leading boxers in the tough division.

He knocked N’Dam down in the second round, twice in the fifth and again in the seventh as he took his professional record to 34-2, including 31 wins inside the distance.

"...in one of boxing's hottest divisions..."?

Who wrote this? Middleweight is one of boxing's worst divisions, not hottest. Hence Cotto being lineal champ, GGG being the longest reigning champ without ever fighting anyone with a pulse, and now Lemieux being the new champ with a vacant title left over from a madman.

Anyway, it was a great fight. What happened to N'Dam's left bicep? Looks like he either completely tore it and it's never healed properly, or he had a real bad accident at some point which left it cut in half.

I didn't watch the fight but it seems Lems stamina down the distance has improved. Lem v GGG seems to be next.

Good win for Lemieux and he is on to bigger things.

N'Dam showed great heart by continually getting up and fighting back, it is criminal how they screwed him over the with the purse. He deserved better than that.

... I watched this fight by cutting my TV plasma in two -- the other half was Ward-Smith... Fortunately, the ref stopped Smith and let me watch Lemieux fullscreen...

Either Cotto and Canelo are able to beat Lemieux... (Not to mention GGG.)

                Enjoyed that fight.

Good win for Lemieux. He's a strange one for me..sometimes he rushes too much, often off-balance and wild. Yet, he is relentless and has excellent power. He's a fun fighter to watch.

N'Dam is another fighter who intrigues me. Boxes lovely at times, but when faced with a big puncher he is sure to be knocked down.
He has big heart though and recovers well. Gets up at takes the fight to his opponents.

Minus the KD's it was a close fight on the cards.

I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for Lemieux. GGG is being talked up?

As for N'Dam. His high profile fights have been against big punches..i'd like to see him fight a 'name' who maybe isn't such a big puncher. So he can showcase his boxing skills.
Maybe a Billy Joe Saunders type of fighter.

He was operated few years ago due to a torn tendon bicep.
