David Lemieux won the IBF middleweight title by beating Hassan N’Dam N'Jikam on points in Montreal, Canada, on Saturday night.
Cameroon-born N’Dam, who now lives in France, was knocked down four times but got up to fight on every time.
Lemieux won by 115-109 on two cards and 114-110 on the third in a performance that should earn him a place among the leading boxers in the tough division.
He knocked N’Dam down in the second round, twice in the fifth and again in the seventh as he took his professional record to 34-2, including 31 wins inside the distance.
