WBC/WBO/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) has rejected the idea of facing former beltholder Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs) in the fall.

Mayweather is set to return on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Last night at the MGM, Porter won a twelve round unanimous decision over Mayweather's close friend Adrien Broner.

The last man to beat Broner, in December 2013, was Marcos Maidana. He was rewarded with two pay-per-view fights against Mayweather in 2014.

I think the lost to Brook set him back a bit,I'd like to see him get one more big victory.In saying that his resume is way better than Thurmans,I mean at least he has fought Paulie,Devon,Brook,and Broner.

Porter isn't a threat to Floyd. Floyd would beat Porter more easily than Brook did...plus Porter is wide open for lead left hooks...which Floyd throws way better than Broner...Floyd will use his legs and make Porter look bad.

Besides, Floyd knows he has an easy Amere Con fight lined up that the puppets at Showtime will continue to push as a "risk" for Floyd...

Since when did Brook get this reputation as being a "holder"he fought that way against Porter because he constantly lunged in ,and unlike Lara Brook actually goes for knockouts.

Well even brooks promoter said brook isn't a big enough name yet in the states to get a mayweather fight. If hes not fighting Shawn porter that only leaves amir khan. I'd rather see porter or the winner of Bradley Vargas though especially since the wbo debacle would get solved at the same time. Brook will fight Rios which will set up a pacquiao fight which will set up the pacquiao mayweather rematch next year
