Shawn Porter beat Adrien Broner in a unanimous decision in Las Vegas on Saturday night in a key welterweight matchup.

The judges scored the fight 114-112, 115-111 and 118-108 in favour of Porter, who set the tone for the fight by going on the offensive from the first bell.

Porter relentlessly attacked to keep Broner on the back foot with flurries of jabs and unforgiving body shots. Broner tried to frustrate Porter by pushing and holding and was eventually deducted a point for persistent fouling by referee Tony Weeks in round 11.

If the options are Porter, Kahn, or Brook, I'll take Porter. At least he'll make it entertaining.

At least Porter proved he deserves the shot at Mayweather. But Floyd may feel he finally deserves a soft fight so why take another tough task that he'll not get credit for anyway.

broner had no chance in beating porter...I called it since the fight was set. Ponce de Leon exposed and set the blueprint on how to beat Broner; high output and aggressive fighters Maidana/Porter easily beat Broner. That said, Porter has no chance against Mayweather because unlike Broner, Mayweather adapts quickly and will pick Porter apart.

Porter looked too sloppy to do anything but get smacked around by Mayweather. He will approach that fight the same way Maidana did but probably won't have the same level of success.
