Comments Thread For: Weights: Andre Ward Ready, Smith Way Over The Limit

WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (27-0, 14KOs) is ready for his first fight since November of 2013. He weighed in at 171.8-pounds for his fight with Paul Smith at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.

Smith, however, was way over the contract limit and weighed in at 176.4-pounds.

Both fighters had agreed to meet in a non-title bout at 172-pounds.

          Sucks for Ward.

Even his last fight Rodriguez didn't make weight for him.

Ward should have chosen a live opponent, instead of a faded mediocre boxer who lost his past 2 fights.

This. I'm not a fan of a weight advantage in high level competitive matchups, but in the context of a no hoper it is almost like "why not?"
