  • Comments Thread For: Pascal-Gonzalez Issues Worked Out, Fight Back in Place

On Tuesday night, BoxingScene.com reported that a light heavyweight tilt between Jean Pascal and Yunieski Gonzalez, scheduled for an HBO televised date of July 25th, was in jeopardy of falling apart.

The situation was serious enough that plans were already in motion to replace the fight with a title defense by WBC flyweight champion Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez, who made a successful premiere on HBO on May 16th by blowing out Edgar Sosa in two rounds. Some of the names being mentioned to face 'Chocolatito' are Brian Viloria and Giovanni Segura.

What? No Chocolatito? His name is getting bandied around with no definate plan. I would complain.

I would prefer that they start having problems again so we can watch Roman Gonzalez instead.

Now that Chocolatito has been ushered into the main stream, he won't have to wait long to find a dance mate...
Perhaps on another GGG card ? That last one was fantastic !

I think Kovalev is wise to have Pascal on his undercard.... That will help in the potential rematch promotion..... It should be entertaining, Pascal brings it hard....
But that fight ends the same, Kovalev puts Pascal to sleep again....

This might be a good thing. It was never a good idea to put little and big men in the same ring. The little guys fight on a football field, or the big guys fight in a phone booth (a tiny area, for the post cell gen). Several issues with such a card, the little guys head slips under the top rope, or the big guy can lean backwards, at the waist, over the ropes.
