Miguel Cotto blows Canelo out, TKO by 5. Cotto is not going to lose to a low volume, stationary counter puncher. I think Canelo is a good young fighter but stylistically this is a bad matchup for him. Every fighter who has beaten Cotto in the past has done so with a very high punch output. Even Floyd Mayweather threw 687 punches vs Miguel Cotto. In Floyds last 8 fights besides Cotto his highest punch output was 505. Austin Trout threw 779 punches vs Cotto, Pacquiao Threw 780, and Margarito threw 987 punches vs Cotto. Safe to say Cottos Kryptonite is a high volume puncher. Canelo is not a high volume puncher.

Recent Punch totals for Canelo in 12 round fights- 415, 450, 526

Safe to say Cotto will never feel pressured in this fight. Canelo is a counter puncher at heart and Floyd Mayweather who is the best counter puncher in the game was only able to land 26% of his shots on Cotto. Mayweather landed 50% of his shots vs Canelo, just saying. Cotto has the better legs and even when hes not punching hes moving and changing the angles which is something that gave Canelo problems in his fights with Lara and Mayweather. Roach knows Canelo is tailor made for Cotto and the boxing public will be shocked at how easily Cotto handles Canelo.

He out boxed Mosely and surprised him as well as a few others with his deceiving speed. Cotto also has one of the best jabs in boxing today all Canelo has over Cotto is youth and maybe power. This fight IMO is a 50/50 fight which is why it is so intriguing. As for the purse split IMO it should be 60/40 in Cotto's favor out of respect to him being champ (because unlike other champs he's a draw on his own) and a solid PPV draw, Canelo has many PPV'S coming his way in the near future Cotto is on the way out and if he loses this will be his last.
        My worthless two cents.
Canelo is a bigger draw than Cotto, but Cotto is the "champ" so I think 50-50 is fair for the split.

As for the fight? I swing back and forth on this, but in the end I just think Canelo's power will take away what Cotto wants to do. Still an intriguing match up that is good for boxing.

It makes for a very tactical fight IMO, you have the younger bigger guy who has all of the physical advantages vs the older more skilled boxer who has been through some wars. Who will need to adjust? Who will be able to adjust?

Cotto is a great boxer, but Canelo is a counter puncher. I think that feeds into what Cotto needs to do to win. Saying that, Cotto can hurt Canelo and if he does could finish him.
Size and youth are all Canelo has. Cotto laughs at his style and speed. Cotto is a small middleweight and Canelo is a big whatever he is.

...and Canelo has a great upper-cut, a punch that has given Miguel all kinds of trouble in his career.

This fight is going to answer all kinds of questions about Cotto and Canelo.

                Canelo Alvarez

                Offense-10
                Defense-7
                Power-9
                Speed-6
                Movement-5
                Chin-9
                Stamina-8
                Machismo-11

Youthful invincibility leads him to overule promoters and managers, to wrecklessly collide with the most dangerous opponent available ...Kirkland and Angulo, once two of the most feared brawlers at 154, both recieved vicious beatings...Lara road his bike...out boxed by Floyd Mayweather...on another collision course with Cotto and GGG

                Prediction: victory by Cotto RTD

Usually only in Internet forums do you here ****** biased predictions and statements. Real honest boxing heads keep it 100.and down the middle. I personally thi k it's 50/50 only because Cotto has been looking great recently. It's a tough one for me to predict. I ll be rooting for Cotto though.
