WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto got what he wanted. The Puerto Rican star wanted to take a break to spend time with his family and wasn't looking to go right back to camp for a September fight. Cotto's team is negotiation a fall showdown with Mexican sensation Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

With Floyd Mayweather Jr. receiving approval for a September 12th fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, everyone involved with Cotto-Canelo, including HBO, felt it was better to push it back to October or November. ESPN Deportes is reported that November 21 and November 28 are the two current working dates for the fight.

cotto's weak for moving the date to november. Canelo is going to beat the hell out of him anyways. i think oscar should co promote a card with dana white and fight in september with cain to push mayweather off of that date. that would be great. how mayweather got the mexican holidays really shows how ****** oscar is. even people who hate boxing buy the fights on these dates because it's the thing to do, lol.

Everyone just moved without question when Mayweather booked the date. I'd love to imagine this means they know something we don't know, but modern boxing media allows for far too much attention whoring for that to be true.

Everyone moved? There was no one looking to book September as their next fight except Floyd as usual.

It is common sense that Cotto Canelo cannot happen in September because both of them just fought and would take at least 1 to 2 months of time off after that which wouldn't leave them with enough time to train for September.

It was laughable to even suggest that Cotto Canelo would've happened in September.
