    October 19, 2014:

Dan Ambrose: HBO commentator Jim Lampley says he was contacted by the lawyer for WBA Super middleweight champion Andre Ward (27-0, 14 KOs) who told him that Ward is willing to fight WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) for a fight.

Presumably, Golovkin would have to move up to super middleweight to face Ward at either a catch-weight or at the full weight in order for the fight to happen.

Lampley believes that Andre Ward or Carl Froch, two of the top super middleweights in the division, might be the direction for Golovkin to go in if he can’t get the top names at middleweight [160] to agree to fight him. Golovkin obviously would prefer to fight Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez than Ward, because it would likely be a much bigger fight in terms of money and fan interest. Fights against Cotto and Canelo would be pay-per-view fights on HBO. It’s unclear whether a Golovkin-Ward fight would sell on HBO pay-per-view.

It’s quite possible it would bring in a very, very low number of pay-per-view buys, because neither Ward nor Golovkin have ever fought on pay-per-view before. Ward’s situation is further hurt by his inactivity. Ward hasn’t fought since last year in November when he beat Edwin Rodriguez. In the last two years, Ward has fought just once per year. He fought one time in 2012 and once in 2013. In contrast, Golovkin fought four times in 2013, and three times in 2013.

“If he can’t get a fight at 160, maybe he has to go to 168 a Carl Froch,” Lampley said to HBO. “A representative from Andre Ward’s camp sent me a note this morning that Andre wants to fight him. He’ll fight him anywhere, anyplace, and anytime. A fight against Andre Ward in Southern California would be very marketable. Ward’s lawyer sent me an e-mail today saying he’ll fight him wherever,” Lampley said.

Where's your link to the HBO exec saying Ward didn't want the fight? I just showed what Jim Lampley said! GGG did not want it then, and he don't want it now, because he wants a big money fight, i.e. Froch, Mayweather, Cotto, or Canelo. I'm not mad at GGG, but he and his team have to stop lying! It won't be long before someone from K2 has a Koncz moment!

Ward wasn't available to fight ANYBODY the last 19 months.
Now he is fighting tune ups.

Why are you still talking about September? GGG needs a big fight ASAP! Who is he going to fight in September, that could be bigger than Ward in October or December? If K2 pushes for the fight, they'll either 1) Prove Ward is ducking GGG, or 2) Get Ward to comeback, and drop those tune ups! If Ward is planning a move to 175, then he'll need a fight at 175, before going after the top LHWs. If Ward has a GGG fight @ 168, on HBO in 2015, then I think he drops those tune-ups! GGG is not really in a position to call shots yet. GGG needs to fight a STAR, if he wants to be a STAR! Andre Ward is GGG's only shot to fight a STAR in 2015!I'm still waiting for that link to the HBO exec's statement!

This is not good for GGG name, he should stop this for GGG fans. Every boxer should be aware of all such things.

I'm talking about September because that's when GGG is fighting again.
He is fighting 4 times this year. That is 2 more chances for one of these other "names" to get in the ring.
You seen the GGG article here yesterday.

                    • Ward proved he was a top P4P fighter. Now it's time for Geducky to do the same.
