Comments Thread For: Chisora vs. Ustinov is Official: Manchester on July 11th

According to Vladimir Hryunov, promoter of Russian/Belarussian heavyweight giant Alexander Ustinov (30-1, 21 KOs), his protégé will fight on July 11 in Manchester, UK, against former BBBofC British, Commonwealth and European champion Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora (20-5, 13 KOs).

“The contract is signed”, said Hryunov to R-Sport.

38-year-old Ustinov, who has been competing under K2 aegis for several years, is 3-0 since suffering his lone loss in the EBU title fight versus Kubrat Pulev, including a sound road shutout of famous New Zealander David Tua. Ustinov was a sparring partner for Del Boy, when the latter was preparing for a fight against Tyson Fury. Ustinov tried to take an inside track to Fury fight, when Chisora got injured, but that bout never happened.

be interesting to see what Chisora has left. He looked done in the Fury fight, but Fury fought a very tactical fight and pretty much gave DC no chance to win

Lets go Del boy! Heavyweights usually peak later so I think Dereck can at least get another european or even world title shot. However taking so many punches can't be healthy. It's weird that since he's lost all the weight and started looking like an athlete. His chin has been quesrionable.

He wasnt in great shape against Fury. Against Vitali or Helenius he was in much better shape. I think hes totally done as a fighter now. His best years are already behind him. I became a fan after his impressive fight against Vitali but that Chisora is gone.

if chisora has any motivation left I don't see why he can't beat Ustinov. that overhand right & his body work will give Ustinov trouble but is only if he is motivated. Ustinov is easy to hit & is very slow which can only help chisora. chisora isn't fast either so there is no need to get under 245-250. the extra 10-15 doesn't make him quicker nor does he absorb punches as well. If chisora is not motivated to get back into contention then he may get beat like david tua did. I think chisora has enough fire left & is well rested. I don't want him to over train & drop so much weight. I got chisora by UD if he is motivated...
