There's times when I watch Wilder and cringe at his lack of fundamentals and other times think "wow, he looks like a boxer in there." He's a work-in-process; he has skillz but he also has a lot of flaws

he is very technically flawed, obviously he has some skills but they are very limited. he mainly gets by on talent.

when he doesnt get wild and throw wide looping shots he has good form on his punches. his straight right hand in particular is thrown with solid technique. he puts punches together well too for a HW.

most of what OP said is true though, although i wouldnt say he has no counter punching ability at all. he isnt exactly a top notch counter puncher but he throws a good counter hook for example, he can counter a bit.

He cant be that bad. If he is crushing everyone he fights its don't matter how he looks like, like some poser or something!

Do you want him to look like Nuryev or something?

Here we go with "afletic" WTF is this athleticism you guys are talking about with Wilder? Do people even know the definition of athletic?

What are you trying to say by athletic? There are just too many qualities that fall under athletic.

He is not particularly good on his feet, the man squats down and charges at guys throwing windmills. I guess you could say he has a lot of flare in his punch throwing...so is that "afletic"?

He's a wild guy with holes all over his defense, well sorry he has no defense...A guy like Pulev or Povetkin will make quick work of this guy, I'll put all my points on it hit me up. I bet Wlad dusts this guy with the 1st 1-2 combo he lands on him.

I bet even a guy like Glazkov pulls a decision on him.

I wanted to be excited for this guy but he will get sparked out the 1st time he fights a legit opponent.

He has nothing but a punch which you can see coming from a mile away.

He has nothing to offer but his power....

Watch his Olympic fight against Russo......he got schooled 7-1 and from the fights I watched all he did was hang on to guys after getting hit all the time.

              He's a bust.

Well you are right he does have those things, as he should for someone who is holding a title, rightfully so or not...God save us all if mere toughmen could hold a title.

But yes he is very limited, bare minimum. The guy gets by on his power and is were he is because of his level of opposition.

I believe he has too many flaws as a champion to improve enough in the next few fights to actually be a threat. Unless Haymon works some magic and gets him fighting cans for the next 10 fights or he gives up the belt.

Povetkin absolutely starches this guy, any money.

I'm just disappointed because I keep waiting for a guy to give Wlad legit trouble and hoping a long powerful guy like Wilder would be that guy, but I give him no chance...Haye was a way more dangerous fight for Wlad. I'll say Fury is a way more dangerous opponent for Wlad.

Boxing fans are so ****** at times. No wilder has no skills whatsoever. That's why he throws shutouts in all his fights.

Wilder's jab is excellent up there with Wlads. Do we realize he landed 3x as many punches as Molina? Including double the power shots? Had he not knocked Molina out, he would have won every round or all but one in the decision. What a scrub!!

But omg he got buzzed for a second by a guy who is 6-4 240!! Get this bum outta here!!. He has zero chance against a guy who was stopped by Lamon Brewster and Corrie Sanders and rocked by Samuel Peter. Or the guy dropped by Cunningham. Or the guy that lost to Marco Huck.

Had the internet been around when Ali was fighting, he would have been written off after being rocked by Henry Cooper and Doug Jones.

Can Wilder improve? Sure. But these won every fight so far easy and wide. The guy has skills..

ali got rocked by cooper, so therefore wilder has skills.

                    thats amazing logic right there

any single guy who is 6 foot 7 and fairly athletic is going to be KO'ing most guys, it doesnt change the fact that he is garbage and has fought tin cans.

                    OH STIRVERNE DOE.

I'm ******? And you give zero analysis of his game in your entire post.

Yes he does very few things well, no one is arguing that. But so do about 3 guys at my local gym down the street. What's your point? This is championship, elite boxing we are talking about.

Skill wise he is the most limited boxer in the current BoxRec top 10. He telegraphs his punches, there is nothing particular impressive in his jab, he has long reach and he jabs that's about all there is too it. He doesn't pummel guys with it like other fighters do. He also drops his lead hand after jabbing it. And did someone say he has the best jab in HW boxing? I don't know what you are watching there. He uses it to measure and keep distance, its not a gaming changing jab. It's too slow, there is a predictable rhythm to it and he retracts it back to his waist, now whats so special about it?

He has no defense, his hands are always low with his head there to hit for anyone with any kind of speed. He always has his hands low and offers nothing in terms of defense, he is wide open for counters all day.

His footwork is not there, just watch any of his fights.

Oh and finally yes he is little chance against those guys you mentioned.
