Does Wilder have any boxing skills?

I thought he looked bad vs the sub 50 ranked Arreola KO1 victim he fought a few days ago and in most of his other fights as well. His jab is uneducated, he always leaves himself wide open for counters, he pulls back with his hands down in straight lines. He has no ability whatsoever to fight on the inside. His balance and footwork are poor. No counterpunching ability. His accuracy is terrible. If he hurts an opponent he loses all composure and starts throws these big cartoonish windmill punches. The guy is one of the worst HW titleholders I have ever seen.

To win a world boxing title takes a tremendous amount of boxing ability, even if you believe he's one of the weakest title holders ever.

I thought he had improved when he fought Stiverne but he looked pretty bad in his last bout. The kid is all athletic ability with a big punch and little boxing IQ.

He's just a thrasher that was all...

Until I believe Lennox Lewis taught him how to throw a jab famously (well he probably worked on that afterward for the Stiverne fight in which he needed to ACTUALLY box for the first time in his career to win.

However his success so far has been based completely around his height+speed+athleticism advantage over almost all of his opponents, his power+aggression over his mismatched opponents and by matching him against the worst possible calibre of opposition overall of any boxer in modern times.

In short, this thread is a very valid viewpoint.

The most unskilled champion since I first laid eyes on bummy Joe Frazier! lol

He's not very skilled at all. Its just a matter of time for Wilder.

Stiverne (=the ONLY elite opponent he has faced) was GRAVELY ILL.

                That's how.

Aside from that, yeah of course he has skills (duh) but he does not have very good skills for top level boxing!

                That's a fact!
