Comments Thread For: Shawn Porter Plans to Use Several Styles Against Broner

Shawn Porter believes he’ll incorporate more than one approach against Adrien Broner when they fight this Saturday in the main event of “Premier Boxing Champions” on NBC.

“I think this fight’s going to go everywhere. I want to dictate everything. I want to dictate the pace. I want to be the commander in the ring,” Porter said on a June 15 media conference call. “So with that being said, we’re versatile, which is great. We can box him from the outside. There will also be points where we look to move in and get very physical. We’ll take it one round at a time, obviously. We’ll look to box and we’ll also look to punch and put it all together … the boxing, the punching, the pressure, the countering, all of it.”

Porter can only fight in one style. His father has him fighting like a caveman.

Another big influence might be the ref too. When Porter leans in and tries to maul you (and fails), he starts wailing you with wild rabbit punches and awkward clinches. I hope the ref sees the fouls and puts a stop to it early on.

Porter is only effective with one style.... Bowling his way in and being very physical..

It worked vs pauli and Devon.... Didn't work vs Brook. But that's porter's style...

I think if he ain't weight drained, he runs over broner

His style is similar to Maidana but quicker and maybe stronger.

Maidana is better than Porter.... Porter maybe physically bigger but the catchweight may take that away...

I think Maidana is more heavy handed and has the better boxing brain. However, I'm still picking Porter to win this fight if he can employ the Maidana style.

He then gave us an insight to his genius stategy this Saturday...
"I'm a bull rush him in round one, then I'm a
bull rush him in round 2
bull rush him in round 3
bull rush him in round 4
bull rush him in round 5
bull rush him in round 6
bull rush him in round 7
bull rush him in round 8
bull rush him in round 9
bull rush him in round 10.
                    That's my versatile plan".

Which, crazy enough, will probably work.
