I do, I questioned why Pedraza got no love from the Puerto Rican fans before. Pedraza is better technically and just has more tools to work with (another poster mentioned some). Verdejo is faster and more explosive so it looks better to the eye in terms of excitement. I was really impressed with Pedraza tonight.
Pedraza should have stayed amateur for the 2012 Olympics (he would have most likely medaled), that was a mistake imo. He would have gotten more opportunities, but I might be wrong.

He made me a fan! He stole the show from Wilder!

Yes I do think he is more well rounded than Verdajo right now but both are Super Talented!

Jose Pedraza vs Javier Fortuna that is going to be a excellent match up stylistically!

Verdejo is hyped hard. I feel like top ranks smart matchmaking is going to have him fighting clowns

We behind him bro! Believe that. Both of them are gonna hold it down for us. Felix impressed in the Olympics and that maybe carried over to the pros.

I kind of understand Calderon's comments because Pedraza is not as famous as Verdejo. However, it's unfair to compare them. Even if they've been professionals for a similar amount of time, it's obvious Pedraza is more advanced at this stage of their carriers. The sniper is already 26 while Verdejo is still 22 and Pedraza has been facing better fighters recently, not to mention he was ranked high enough for a title shot. We can compare them later on, when they're both champions or after they hang up the gloves.

In terms of their following, Puerto Ricans know their guys, but you need to talk the actual boxing fans, not the fanatics. Verdejo obviously has more fans, but that's all due to better promotion. If anything, we should be asking why Top Rank (or any other promotion power house) didn't grab Pedraza to build him up they way they did with Verdejo.

Verdejo has the Top Rank shill machine behind him; Pedraza will have to get his own accolades behind his fists (Haymon's efforts don't seem to get the same benefit of the doubt).

Talent/ability will always shine through in the end; may take some extra time, but it'll end up shining.

Verdejo didn't really stand out In the Olympics. But once again top rank is really smart having Verdejo fight in heavy PR places. El sniper barely signed to Al right? I think Al is going to make him a star. You rarely hear anyone talk about pedraza. I think Verdejo is already a bigger star than cotto was after the same stage in his career

He just barely signed to haymon like last year right? I agree al needs to have el sniper in NY and Florida where there are huge PR populations
