Heavyweight Artur Szpilka (19-1, 14 KOs) Wieliczka, Poland had no issues with Manuel Quezada (29-10, 18 KOs) Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, pounding Quezada to the point where he elected to remain on his stool prior to the start of round four. Szpilka, cheered on by a sizable Polish contingent, landed at will on the stationary Quezada, whose mobility mirrored Refrigerator Perry in the off-season.

In a scheduled ten round light heavyweight bout, Eleider “Storm” Alvarez (17-0, 10 KOs) of Apartado, Colombia dispatched Anatoliy Dudchenko (19-4, 13 KOs) of Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine by TKO in round two. A left hook-right hand to the head dropped Dudchenko along the ropes early in the second. Upon rising, Dudchenko was still wobbly and the contest was halted at 1:05. [Click Here To Read More]

Is this a real article or simply a press release from PBC? Because in my opinion there wasn't anything spectacular about the card.

The guy's tough, but I didn't see anything last night that would lead me to believe he'll beat Kov, or even ******man for that matter. Maybe he beat Kov in amateurs, but sorry, not convinced yet.

... Yes... The Ring "lineal" belt is with Stevenson (together with the WBC belt)...
... Therefore, if he wants the biggest belt he can get Beterbiev should fight Adonis now...

The score in their fight was something like 25-24, so that fight doesn't mean anything now.

Here is a lesson concerning amateur bouts - and this was at the highest level: "Joe Frazier had no business winning a gold medal in the 1964 Olympics. He had been beaten in the Olympic trials by Buster Mathis, a fighter with a far better amateur record. But Mathis broke his thumb while training for the Olympics and Frazier got his chance. It was ironic because in the Olympic semi-finals, Joe Frazier broke his own thumb. But "Smokin' Joe" Frazier was not a man to be denied. He had the thumb taped, basically fought with one hand in the finals and won the gold medal. It was typical of this gutsy fighter."
And this is the Frazier-Mathis professional result: Frazier TKO Mathis round 11. "1968-03-04 : Joe Frazier 204˝ lbs beat Buster Mathis 243˝ lbs by TKO at 2:33 in round 11 of 15"
"Joe Frazier connected with a short, thunderous left hook in the closing minute of the 11th round to stop king-sized Buster Mathis and win a four-state piece of the world heavyweight title at Madison Square Garden. The punch sent the bloodied giant on his back over the bottom strand of the ropes. Mathis barely staggered to his feet at nine but referee Arthur Mercante immediately halted the fight. Frazier's mighty blow brought a huge roar from the near-capacity crowd in the 20,000-seat arena.
Mathis gave his smaller rival a stiff battle for the first six rounds, but Frazier, putting on the pressure with thudding body punches that seemed to dig deep into Buster's body, wore the mammoth fighter down and then set him up for the staggering blow that ended the fight. It was the only knockdown of the fight and the first time Mathis was put down as a professional."
Now you know why I want to see Kovalev vs Beterbiev on the professional level. The example I provided made it clear that Mathis and not Frazier should have been the heavyweight representing the USA in the '64 Olympics, but at the professional level, Frazier beat Mathis bloody before winning by TKO. I have to believe that a Kovalev-Beterbiev fight will happen and be of the highest interest. Sergey Kovalev is the fighter I expect to win. Time will tell, and until then let's not get too worked up about amateur fights from quite a ways back.

Has concussive power in both hands, patient, can cut off the ring and has quality boxing ability. I will be watching this guy closely. He has some flaws but he very well may be the goods.
