Premier Boxing Champions has announced that a battle of former champions has been finalized for August 14th, on Spike TV, with Antonio Tarver (31-6, 22KOs) facing Steve Cunningham (28-7, 13KOs) in a heavyweight contest.

Tarver was last in action in December, when he stopped Johnathan Banks in the seventh round of a very one-sided fight that likely ended Banks' career as a fighter. Banks is also the head trainer of heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko.

Very good match-up in terms of talent and experience, although may be a boring fight. Pivotal for both men. Cunningham is so goddamn chinny, though...

Interesting Match up.. I like Tarver, and Cunningham but Cunningham has a bit of an issue with his chin and I see Tarver coming out strong looking for a KO. I see Tarver by KO within 6. Kills me because I'm a huge fan of Cunningham as a fighter and person.

One thing can be sure about this fight - Tarver ain't the one getting knocked out.

Another mediocre fight from PBC. Unfortunately, it is not as if Top Rank, Golden Boy and other promoters are giving us scintillating fights between the two best fighters in the division.

Tarver is getting a title shot within the next 12 months.

Winner will most likely fight Wilder

Would of preferred to see Cunningham fight Spzilka instead.

They gave Molina a title shot I'm sure the WBC would find a way to rank Tarver as well just let him get KO'd by Wilder now, don't care to see him labor through another fight.
