Comments Thread For: Marcos Maidana Eyes Ring Return By Year's End

Former two division world champion Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) has been spending some time with his family back in Argentina, but now he's getting the itch to return to the ring.

Maidana had a very busy period, with three major fights from December 2013 to September 2014 - heading a huge event against Adrien Broner in Texas and two Showtime pay-per-view fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The Argentina fighter is starting to get himself back in shape after putting on more than a few pounds during his time off.

Ortiz rematch. It still has some luster as a good old fashioned slugfest, if only to see Ortiz pull off something boneheaded again.

He's given us a lot of great fights. I'm content with him hanging them up. He made noise in boxing when he was just supposed to be cannon fodder for a hype job.

That's a mismatch. Maidana has grown exponentially while Ortiz has regressed into a bum boxer. Chino KO1

Please give Maidana a bounce back fight. I say Robert Guerrero at 148. Next in line: Pacquiao or Danny Garcia.

On another note, Maidana possesses underrated skills, i.e. subtleties and defense. You never seen Marco get caught seriously bad by a big shot... nor have you ever seen his face take a lot of damage. Has he ever even had a swollen eye? That's crazy considering how aggressive he is.

Maidana will be on the Mayweather undercard, they need him to sure up the Hispanic base if they want to compete against Cotto/Canelo. So it'll be Floyd/Khan and Garcia/Maidana (sweet) or Floyd/Garica and Khan/Maidana II (also sweet).

Curious to see who his opponent will be with the weight increase.
