But then Golovkin took him up on it and that sent Froch into a period of deep reflection where he seems to have decided that it would be better to retire than to get a serious beating. You make it sound like it's Golovkin or retirement but Froch doesn't have to fight Golovkin if he comes back, he could just as easily choose to fight DeGale without any complaints.

To me it sounds like Froch likes the fame, attention and adulation but if Hearn is to be listened to, he just isn't all that keen on the work anymore. He could surprize us and keep fighting though, who knows.
