Cotto Will Choose Alvarez Over Golovkin For Money; Freddie Roach

It is expected however, that Cotto would choose Canelo Alvarez over Golovkin simply because it is going to be a bigger pay-day, according to Cotto’s trainer Freddie Roach.

No need in rehashing the obvious, but from a financial standpoint it is painfully obvious this is the case.

Golovkin realizes this, which is why they are trying for Froch or even Degale at SMW.

To be honest I doubt GGG will get within 10 feet of Froch despite whatever his team state's. GGG is not a SMW and they know this.

I expect GGG to wait for the end result of Cotto /Canelo and get on all four's to beg one of these divas for a play date. And if they don't fall for the sad puppy eye's from GGG than I expect team GGG to fight Lara and continue to pad his record with more bums Chavez Jr style.

I agree, but team GGG doesn't seem to think so.

Quality over quantity. I'd rather see him fight two competitive fights a year than four overmatched opponents. Economically I can see why he does it and completely understand.

The big drama show is over, I get no pleasure in watching him slaughter sheep. It's also not helping him as a fighter if he's feeling the need to get punched in the face on purpose.

that's fine, but if the fight falls apart again then i want to see cotto defend his belt against his mandatory or drop it, instead of taking another stay-busy fight like geale

if he only agreed to take competitive fights then he'd fight zero times per year. you can't honestly prefer a champion to sit on the sidelines waiting for someone to give him a break rather than methodically wiping out the contenders available to him and trying to force a mandatory unification
