Ortiz was dropped, cut, exhausted, faced with an opponent who refused to lose, and in a moment of weakness... gave up. It's not that he didn't make a gallant effort but in boxing, to be great, more is required of you than in any other sport. More is required than is really reasonable and Ortiz just made a decision he may live to regret."
Truer words were never spoken...............true story!

On reflection it wasn't just a moment though was it? It's now one of several moments. Boxers require many qualities/strengths chief amongst which – more than speed strength & even skill – is dogged tenacity.

Ortiz has many good qualities but he's weak mentally. He'll never be in the top tier again because the memory of defeat weighs more on him than it would on other fighters who are better equipped to move on from a loss.

He knows he quit against Maidana (rather than being beat) and he simply doesn't have the mental fortitude to reconcile that.

Feed him to Rios, I don't care how unskilled Rios might be(well according to some, he is actually a pretty good inside fighter), he has tons of heart and you know he would die before losing to Ortiz. If it's in any ppv undercard I would probably pay for that fight alone, they hate each other's guts.
