Who's ever in charge at PBC for setting dates, time, and locations needs to be fired. It's almost as if they're intentionally trying to hurt their shows, otherwise they have no idea what they're doing.

Bill him as "Scots-Irish" Carl Frampton and he'll sell in Texas

          2) none of your talk about Frampton "needing" to fight Rigondeaux never brings up money. Regardless of how good Rigondeaux is, Frampton brings the TV, Frampton brings the gate money, Frampton brings the sponsorships, Frampton brings the TV money.

Willie Monroe Jr was willing to take the short end of a 15:1 split of the money to make the Golovkin fight ($100k:$1.5m).

Does Rignodeaux take that fight for $250k, with Frampton taking $1.5m? Because that's about all that Rigo would be worth to the potential fight. I doubt he does; he'd probably want to bring nothing monetarily to the table and still split the take 50/50. lol
Very simple - the only way we would know who would take what or offer what is Rigo is offered a fight. Rigo pursued and fought Donaire and accepted the terms but it is a two-way street and the other party has to be willing. That's the only way we are going to learn what the terms could be.

            Cobrita Jr sucks.

They must be setting up a Santa Cruz fight having this in El Paso.

Nice little KO to introduce Frampton to the American fans.

His next fight after this had better be Rigo or Santa Cruz or this division is ***ed. Same goes for Santa Cruz. ENOUGH of these fighters fighting anything but another champ in their division! At least Santa Cruz and Frampton could have fought Jonathan Guzman or Ray Vargas or even Jesse Magdaleno who are all rated in the top 5 in Frampton's governing body and some in Santa Cruz's, not the crap Frampton is now fighting! And Santa Cruz is on notice too. He opposition is even worse, he is the kingpin of the crapwagon.
Frampton won his championship in September. Picked up an injury and then had to face a mandatory in February. Kiko Martinez was world champion and Avalos (mando) was top 5 ranked at the weight. This is his first "soft touch"

It's also his first fight under a new promotional banner which he just signed for a couple of weeks ago, maybe even less (which is what I meant) - and you expect the opponent to be Rigondeuax?

I'm not talking to a realistic or serious person here.

It's a showcase fight to introduce Frampton to an American audience and hopefully a lead into a fight against Santa Cruz which he has been chasing for a couple of years now. Keep in mind Quigg also ducked Frampton and Rigondeaux isn't fighting of his own volition.

I'm being very realistic. Did you forget the part where I said it would have at LEAST been acceptable if Frampton had fought Jesse Magdaleno, Rey Vargas, or Jonathan Guzman? Team Frampton avoided those top ranked contenders who people have seen many times right here on American TV - in favor of a complete unknown who people have not seen at all. Its that simple.

Again, not saying that it would've worked but, looking at the situation, that should've been the move from the start, especially for a fighter in Rigondeaux's position; debuting as a pro at 29, with nearly 500 amateur fights on his body, and the inability/seeming unwillingness, to pick up English. (if not from the start, then at least after the end of the Top Rank deal).

The Fontainbleau Hotel ballroom basically holds 2,000 seats (there may be better local venues, but I don't want to go through the work of finding them; Rigondeaux fought his first two fights there); Caribe could've worked out a deal, to at least keep Rigondeaux in enough fights to stay busy, while a TV partner comes back into the fold.
Cubans don't pay for a ticket. Period

                      That's not how prizefighting works.

Rigo is a fighter that almost literally brings nothing to the table; he fights a **** style, doesn't sell a ticket anywhere in the world (outside of possibly in Cuba), has no backing from any TV outlet, and doesn't do well with the press. Why even make an offer that is pretty likely to be turned down by a negative fighter.

It's not like offers haven't been made to Rigondeaux, and it's not like folks haven't been watching either. Why would Rigondeaux turn down Roc Nation, Frank Warren, and Matchroom Sport (all serious companies who looked to see if a promotional deal could be made), yet be willing take a "lets just see" offer?
