Problem is I don't got a lot of faith in that Miami Cuban market base. Cotto gots NYC. Thats a huge market with a solid boxing history. Lotsa PR's there with 700k+. Mexicans can fight in Texas & Cali which are also huge markets with a solid boxing fan base & lotsa Hispanics (~35% of the population or about 20M people between those two states). PR or Mexicans can also just go to PR or Mexico & fight. Rigo would be stuck with Miami with 100k+ Cubans, which I don't believe to be a boxing rich area (up for debate, but thats my take), & unless something changes with the Cuba/US situation no Cuba fight that would be epic. I think there is probably an economical reason none of these elite Cubans have done what you are suggesting. Ty Wikipedia.

This fight literally makes no sense. Ok he's fighting a complete unknown bum who just lost to a 38-8 fighter but that's not surprising its pbc but what is more disturbing is the fight is in el paso! do they have a big irish population? I used to live there so the answer is no. New york? Boston? brain? i'm pretty sure the people choosing these venues are literally throwing darts against a map of the US.
And this is all for Frampton's stateside debut, with moves to Boston/New York fine when the opportunity opens up (Frampton standing in as the co-feature to a Garcia-Malignaggi event from Barclays Center in New York [primetime on NBC or ESPN]).
The American viewing audience, in a general sense, has never seen or heard of Carl Frampton, yet you want to put him on in New York for his debut show? With what other bits built in to support it?
You don't like Haymon or his PBC model, fine; you'd rather things stayed with Arum&Co running things. whatever.
PBC continues on with their plan, exposing the general sports fan to another fight card with interesting fighters and fights, and the advertisers continue to come aboard, with the viewers continuing to tune in.Comment

Charlo-Bundrage fight just got cancelled so maybe they'll put some Mexican name on the card?Comment

The fight will air primetime in the UK, the event gets to basically piggyback off of the attention/energy that will come with the assumed Chavez Jr fight later that day in the same town, and it's likely a style matchup that will result in a good fight for TV.

when did i say that? i don't like either model. boxing as a whole is broken.
i see you must work for pbc. this is an interesting fight...? no reasonable person would say that. since you work for pbc can you at least give them some input about what they are doing wrong. giving away thousands of tickets through 1iota for every event probably isn't a winning strategy. start finding people that want to pay.Last edited by daggum; 06-08-2015, 06:11 PM.Comment

I had no idea we had so many savvy businessmen that posted here!! Al Haymon doesn't know what he's doing!! He doesn't know anything about making money!!!Comment

If they could get Pac and Floyd to actually fight, there is nothing that cant happen in Boxing and there is no reason why the Frampton / Rigo fight couldn't be made instead. Both are champions and Rigo would take the fight in a heartbeat. Regardless of his contract, he has been trying to get the top guys in the ring for a long time and no one has the balls to step forth. The only thing unrealistic in boxing was expecting Floyd and Pac to fight and now that became realistic.Comment

al haymon has a history of failing yet you act like he's rockafeller or something. why do you think hes in boxing and not music anymore... sure this might pay off and it might not. it seems very puzzling what he's doing and pointing that out shouldn't mean you hate capitalism or boxing or some other nonsense.Comment
