  • Comments Thread For: Leo Santa Cruz-Abner Mares Coming in The Summer?

In the last year or so, both Leo Santa Cruz (30-0-1, 17KOs) and Abner Mares (29-1-1, 15KOs) - once fan favorites - have come under heavy criticism and scrutiny for taking on soft opposition. But rumors are circulating that they may face each other in the summer in Los Angeles.

Santa Cruz, who currently holds the WBC 122-pound title, just recently faced Jose Cayetano on the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and won a rather pedestrian ten round decision in a non-title affair. Santa Cruz says he took the fight to test the featherweight division waters.

I might not be a super fan of Santa Cruz but I do like watching him throw acruately 100 punches a round, and I also know a LOT of people hate this guy. WHY? Is it the lack of power? I mean he doesn't ever talk a lot of smack like Mayweather. I really am just trying to understand because I cant figure it out yet.

If this is a serious question, then the answer is just one word, one name: Rigondeaux.

Yes it was, I get it...it all makes sense, yes it seems like he is ducking Rigondeaux. Unfortunately watching Rigondeaux fight makes me fall asleep, I think hes too good of a boxer that it makes boxing more of an art and less of entertainment.

Finally Santa cruz seems actually willing to fight someone with a pulse. He ran like a coward to haymon after he called rigo out and realized de la Hoya was going to make the fight. One of those oops I crapped my pants moments

They both have regressed but the winner will get a nice boost. Mares said if he doesn't fight LSC next then it'll be russle jr
