Geale was drained by Cotto but...

I don't think Geale would have won at 160.

He may have lasted 8-9 rounds.

Geale just is not that good and has very little power anyway.

      Was thinking the same thing.

As far as the not being 100% due to the weight limits, it goes without saying.

Of course he wasnt going to turn this fight down, probably a large payday for him. And what other big name could he get? None.

All part of the abuse in boxing today by the bigger name or financially backed prospect. Was amazing how Kellerman was glowing about the revived Cotto, a scintillating performance..give me a break.

If the fight was rigged why not just stay down after getting hit flush on the jaw, why create the controversy so some dude on the interwebz, can claim it was rigged?

          * Golovkin has stated that he will fight anywhere from 154-168
          * Golovkin recently stated that he will fight Mayweather at 154

If Cotto/Golovkin gets made tomorrow, it will be 155/156, most likely.

What does Golovkin being mandatory have to do with the weight ?

But the thing is, Golovkin/Cotto, is 12 months away, MINIMUM..... more likely 18-24 months away..... so who knows how Cotto will feel at that point in time, he could be comfortable carrying a little more weight, who knows.
He doesnt want to fight middleweights at 160. For him to weigh160 is not his interest, it his opponents weight he is interested in. Its pretty clear he wants to gain some advantage by making them lose weight isnt it? Even when he fought Martinez he demanded a 159lb weight for the lineal titles...completely de****able. He gets his way simply because the opponent will get a big payday because he is "Cotto".

When you think about it though what are his impressive wins in the last years? Clottey was a very close fight, shot shopworn Ricardo Mayorga! Margarito with a shattered eye, Yuri Foreman whose knee kept popping out, Delvin Rodriguez..Martinez with shot knees, and drained Geale who had been knocked silly recently.

The headbutt crossed my mind as well...

I think Geale quit - his body language is always pretty negative at the best of times to be honest...

The weight for this fight was more for future fights. Could Cotto have beat Geale at 160? There's not a doubt in my mind. But it definitely does not make sense to fight some guys at 160 and some guys at 157.
