The president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, feels the time is right for Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) to move up in weight to challenge WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs).

Cotto will defend his title on Saturday night against former three time champion Daniel Geale at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It's the first defense for Cotto since winning the world title last June with a knockout of Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez.

When did Cotto become an elite boxer??? Every time he stepped up he lost...Mayweather, Pacquaio, Trout; Trout is not even that good of a boxer. He beat a shot Martinez... I guess thats what make you elite lmao. You can also make a real good case that Clottey and Mosley also beat Cotto. Judah is not elite. Cotto is a warrior because he stepped in with the best but not elite because he lost to the best. Now Trinidad is elite beat Campas, ODLH, Joppy, Carr, and Whitaker.

Cotto should win this fight. Golovkin at 157 or canelo at 154. Cotton isn't a middleweight but he earned his right to do what he wants. He fought pretty much everyone to get a name now fighters want a name off of him...

So cotto vs canelo in fall,and canelo gets a voluntary defence after beating cotto,so he doesn't fight until may. After that,cotto asks for a rematch in the fall,and the cycle starts all over again. Can somebody just grow some damn balls and fight GGG already?
