    Contursi on managing Maidana

Contursi is the big difference between Chino and Lucas, imo.

I agree, Contursi always matches up Chino the best way possible and Michael Arano always put Lucas in bad stylistic match ups. No offence to Chino but I Think Lucas could also beat everyone Chino beat.

Maidana is bigger, stronger, and nastier than Matthysse. Also Maidana has shown a really good defense, whereas Lucas gets caught by some of the heavy stuff, especially late in fights (i.e. Provodnikov and Danny Garcia, they both landed bombs on Matthysse in the late rounds)

Honestly imo the only difference is that Maidana was considered an easy enough opponent to fight Broner, and got his lucky break to Mayweather from there.

Matthysse's opportunity came when he fought Garcia but he was unlucky on the night and lost a close one, that was very damaging for his career.

If he had won, it would have been him getting the Mayweather fight.

I agree, Devon Alexander is their common opponent.

Matthysse wouldn't have lost to Kotelnik and Khan either, good chance he stops both of them.

As well as losing to Devon, there are no guarantees Maidana would beat Garcia or Provodnikov, even now.

Actually I asked Demarcus Corley about them as he has fought Matthysse, Provodnikov and Maidana. He said Matthysse hits the hardest, is the strongest and is also the most aggressive. Devon Alexander also said that Matthysse hits harder than Maidana so I think they know a little better than you think amigo. Also, Matthysse has a higher KO % and has very underrated boxing skills. Maidana is more reckless and bigger which is his key threat however he has shown a vulnerability to body shots and has also been knocked down quite a lot. Also Zab Judah said Luxas is the hardest puncher he's ever faced and he's faced Cotto and so on. Bradley also said he hits very hard even with big sparring gloves.

              Maidana UD 12 Corley
              Provodnikov UD 12 Corley
              Matthysse KO Corley (+ 8 KD's)

              Alexander UD Maidana
              Alexander SD Matthysse

Maidana has achieved more but you cannot definitely say that he is the better fighter as Lucas has done better against common opposition.

apparently he was being screwed by his old manager, sometime in 2010 chino ask contursi to be his full manager. he got him to garcia after that awful performance vs devon and still got floyd, twice. even walter, lucas brother, sent his son with contursi and garcia. lucas is stook with arano who get made him waste a lot of time, beside danny garcia who has lucas fought?

Zab Judah, Ruslan Provodnikov, Devon Alexander, Humberto Soto, Lamont Peterson.

2013 was the real waste of time for Matthysse, and that wasn't so much down to Arano but Haymon.

Maidana was out there fighting Mayweather, while Matthysse was getting matched with Molina Jr and Roberto Ortiz.

Lucas has to take some of the blame too, he lost to Garcia while Maidana won his fight with Broner. Good (and bad) fortune was heavily involved.

If Matthysse had got Broner and Maidana got Garcia it would have been the other way around, but that's boxing.

You would never see Maidana getting caught like this. No head movement whatsoever from Lucas. Just keeping his head straight up -- a big no-no. Head movement does not do anything after getting hit with a bomb. Maidana never stands straight up; his head is constantly moving.

Matthysse's gifts are his offensive abilities, not his defense.

                    Maidana is more balanced.

When asked about Maidana Floyd Mayweather said,

"I know about Maidana. In the sport of boxing he makes noise. He reminds me of Arturo Gatti, but he don't take as much punishment. He dishes out more punishment than he takes."

                    Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9J7Vk1eFI50

Boxing 101. Maidana displays the head movement necessary to avoid getting hit by big shots. Marcos sees his opponent tightening up, which is a sign that his foe is about to load up. Chino relaxes, takes a deep breath, and proceeds to roll, slip, dip, catch, and block the incoming punches. After the assault Maidana answers with a chopping left hook and right hand to the dome, winning the exchange.

I like Matthysse, but when have you ever seen him roll an overhand right? Maidana does it all the time -- even against TBE.
