Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder: Kevin Johnson Just Came For a Check

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has made quite a name for himself in the United States, with a near perfect knockout percentage of 33 wins, no defeats and 32 knockouts. But across the ocean in the UK, Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua (13-0, 13KOs) is generating a knockout storm of his own.

Last Saturday in London, Joshua easily wiped out veteran Kevin Johnson in two rounds. Johnson had never come close to being stopped in any of previous fights, which includes his defeats to Vitali Klitschko, Tyson Fury, Dereck Chisora and others.

Wilder really impressed me with his winning the title. Most fighters who have most of their fights end early, have not built up their stamina but it is obvious Wilder trains like a demon because his going 12 impressed me. As did his overall boxing skills and taking punches from a very hard puncher. And he showed patience and avoided that bad windmill style at the same time. I was 100% impressed with Wilder. He answered all the questions I had.

Based on the comments, it sounds like Wilder has respect for Joshua. The only one he's talking badly about is Kevin Johnson.

As a Wilder fan, I think Joshua and Povetkin are his biggest threats besides Wladimir.

I do like that about Wilder, he talks positively about upcoming heavyweights and sounds like he genuinely wants them to do well. In stark contrast to Fury who feels the need to run his mouth about literally everyone, even people from other sports.

How dull would it be if all boxers were respectful to one another.

              This is boxing not Snooker.

"I can only just encourage him to keep training harder and keep staying hungry and keep dedicating himself to the sport"
He probably trains harder than you, chicken legs.

Wilder proved you can fight bums and become champ. Wilder maybe could have fought for a world title earlier and still be champ, if he got guys like Stiverne to beat.

Wilder hoping he don't have to fight Josh anytime soon.

I'm canadian, and reading "came for a check"
I assumed it meant just to check out Joshua. Didn't know americans spelled cheque differently. seems weird to me.
