Comments Thread For: Jayson Velez is Looking To Make a Big Statement

On Thursday evening Jayson Velez (22-0-1) will kick off his 2015 campaign against Daniel Ramirez (11-2) at the Belasco Theater in the third installment of the revamped Golden Boy LA Fight Club series. Velez is co-promoted by Golden Boy and Miguel Cotto Promotions.

Both of the shows this year have been sellouts and have been received well by the fans. Velez looks to keep that trend going.

He's average like Grado. A little less than Grado.

Velez is the same guy who on national TV said that beating Salvador Sanchez's cousin was revenge for Salvador Sanchez beating Wilfredo Gomez. Even though he is an okay boxer, that statement showed he doesn't have much between the ears.

There was something weird too about the Sanchez trunks being worn, Velez making a flippant remark and the Sanchez team wigging out over it...I don't know why they set themselves up that hard emotionally, that kid got KTFO.

        I wouldn't mind seeing a Shelby-Velez, Velez got a draw against Gradovich.

Yeah that whole thing with Velez/Sanchez that night was odd. I think only a genuine talent in the Sanchez family should have been allowed to wear the trunks and other particulars belonging to Salvador, especially the copying of Sanchez's afro. His cousin didn't do the Sanchez name justice. The gimmick doesn't work unless the fighter has real talent and his cousin doesn't. Sanchez was one of my 3 favorite fighters of all time.
