Comments Thread For: Froch: Being an Underdog With Golovkin Excites Me

Super middleweight contender Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) gets excited at the thought of being an underdog in an dangerous fight with WBA/IBO middleweight king Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs).

There have been talks about a potential Froch-Golovkin fight happening in the fall, but Froch has yet to make a concrete decision regarding his future in the sport.

Froch has been inactive since last May's knockout of George Grove before 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. He's taken a pass on several other fights and vacated his IBF super middleweight belt when the sanctioning body ordered him to face James DeGale.

I may be in the minority in stating this but I think Froch has an excellent shot at stopping GGG dead in his tracks.

It's not that he keeps saying the same thing -- it's that he says it a couple of times and sites like this one milk it into dozens of articles.

I agree with that. Quit talking about it. Either Froch fights GGG this year or goes home. It would be a great fight and then the world would know why every other middleweight in the world is running from GGG. Even Canelo Alvarez said that he had no plans on moving to middleweight, even though he last fought at 155. That is only five pounds. GGG has said numerous times that he would gladly and fight Mayweather, or Canelo at 154 and would easily make the weight. All these guys are words.

Froch said he's not making an announcement on retirement this week because he hasn't been able to meet with Hearn and McCracken.

Just in case anyone was holding their breath.

He did re-iterate however, that he still intends to carry out his threat of a fight on the cobbles with Joe Calzaghe when he sees him if he does not apologize.

Lol, I's personally have four time world champion Froch as the slight favourite at 168.

you got it wrong, GGGs team clearly stated that not only they wont go at 154 for canelo, but also that they wont even do a CW(lets say 157) for him...
so 154 is selective and only includes floyd...

I would love to see this fight because I know Froch would beat Golovkin down.

The Carl/Joe straightener can happen later. We want Froch/Golovkin.
