  • Comments Thread For: Erik Morales is Ready For Vargas To Shock Tim Bradley

Last week, the former super lightweight 'regular' champion of the World Boxing Association, Jessie Vargas, announced that he hired former four division world champion Erik 'Terrible' Morales as his trainer. Vargas returns on the 27th of June at the StubHub Center in Carson, California when he faces former two-division king Timothy Bradley for the vacant welterweight title of the World Boxing Organization.

I don't see how changing trainers a month out for the biggest fight of your career is a good idea.

Has Moreales ever been a trainer before ?

I don't know why is this guy pushed and marketed as a future star and good prospect. I've never seen anything from him which would drive me to think that.

If Arum thinks that Btadley is shot and he wants to establish this kid/make him legit with a Bradley fight, he will be in a rude awakening.
somethin doesn't seem cool about this fight for me, I hope Bradley won't get robbed. Arum is a very sneaky guy.

Oh and the WBO now is officially Arum's slave. Like how the fuck Vargas got a ww title fight just on his first fight in ww? Such a shame organization. I hope they die out with the "we have 1000 champions" WBA. IBF and WBC would be enough.

There's nothing special about Vargas, but he is solid. He has a good chin, and he is usually the more active fighter in the ring. Outpointing him isn't easy, and a knockout loss in his bout with Bradley seems improbable. It's not a bad fight.

That said, I favor Bradley to win, although an upset wouldn't surprise me. I agree with your criticism on the way Vargas has been marketed

Vargas is tough an durable and has underrated power, he can catch bradley. Bradley resistance isnt what it used to be, every fight now he getting swole up ends up a lil ify in the brain. We shall see.

I'm actually excited to see Morales as a trainer and Vargas doesn't have a complicated style that needs major altering either, the transition should be smooth.

I know Morales has been training guys in Mexico for a while, but what happened to Roy Jones Jr?

I thought him and Vargas hit it off very well? I agree, 1 month out from your fight and you switch trainers, I'm not so sure that's a good thing and especially for the biggest fight of your career.

That said, I think Vargas is underrated. I like his style, it may not be blood and guts, but he has a great jab, good speed, good power and a hell of a chin.

You mean physical power? Because I don't know how can be underrated a fighter's punching power who has 9 KO-s on 26 fight with a busy, pretty offensive style. I wouldn't call that underrated at all.
