He got the Pac fight because he beat Provodnikov. Since Ruslan was being set up as a Pac opponent, beating him got Algieri the fight instead. No one except the fanatics liked it, and no one should have. Khan made more sense because Khan was looking for a guy who can't punch to look good against, and he wanted to outdo Pacquiao to land Mayweather. He's an idiot.

Algieri is actually a solid fighter, and young. He could be pretty decent as he continues to improve.

It's because Porovodnikov was supposed to fight Pac in December but he lost to Algieri so Chris pretty much took Ruslan's Pacquiao fight away.

alreiri will become a gatekeeper in time. he's got a decent style for fans, isnt a danger to hurt your fighter, and he'll lose to top guys. he's also good at selling fights.

despite that weak resume...He showed up to fight. His defeat with Khan was a win in stock. Didnt give him the W but did give him another big fight and good payday to come. Khan looked like shlt and Algieri looked good.
With Manny he was embarrassed for 12. knocked down 6 times. Let me rephrase that...He made it 12 rounds with one of the best fighters on the planet. Got knocked down six times and GOT BACK ON HIS FEET to finish the fight.
Ruslan...Out boxed and smarted a dangerous fighter. Rulan is like fighting a run away train. He manged to out think and out slick him and fought (with one eye) to take home the win.
We have not heard the last from Algieri. On top of that resume thats so weak...hes fighting top guys and giving them all they can handle.
