  • Comments Thread For: Gradovich Felt Bias From British Officials in Loss

Evgeny Gradovich is not is bad spirits after losing his undefeated record, and his IBF featherweight championship, to Lee Selby via an eight round technical decision on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London. The scores were 80-72 and 79-73 twice.

The fight was stopped after a clash of heads that opened up a cut on Grandovich. He felt the cut wasn't serious and it wasn't bothering him. The doctor and the referee disagreed and stopped the match.

There's no doubt the stoppage was terrible and wrong, but there was nothing wrong with the ref or judges.

Gradovich is being a sore loser here. Unless you are a doctor who has inspected the cut then you have no valid opinion about whether the fight should or should not have been stopped.

Completely unfair stoppage, of course they were bias, try everything to get the fight at the US, avoid fighting over there again bud

Every fighter it seems has an excuse for losing in Britain.

And for the record, no I do not believe Gradovich was going to come on in the later rounds, he was hurt, frustrated, one dimensional and at times getting back up in the ring. Shelby was on his A game and Gradovich was not.

Blood was actually running into the eye. You can see it all running down his nose and face. It wasn't the worst cut but it was in a horrible place.

How do you think every other country in the world feels , when your bum champs beat them on US soil as not many American boxers ever leave their own safety net of home advantage , i agree there has been dodgy decisions in UK in recent years , BUT WTF .. Selby schooled him in every round, if it hadn't of been stopped by ref Selby would of stopped him , look at all Selbys fights , he boxes off back foot 1st few rounds , then when he comes out on front foot moving forward the fights don't last much longer, Gradovich would not of won that fight if his own family were reffing .. oh and didn't he really complain hard when it was stopped , he was pleased , he was lucky to be given a round

I agree. Seems a lot of shady stuff has been happening on Hearn cards (Beltran-Burns is a good example).

Fighters from other countries should AVOID fighting in the UK.

These days, foreign fighters are more likely to be treated fairly in Germany, Russia, the USA (except for Texas) and Japan. The UK is probably the very worst in the world for shady stuff, especially quick stoppages by referees.

If the BBB of C wasn't shady, they'd ban Ian John-Lewis from working as an official (ref or judge).
