I agree. The Geale fight looks very pointless right about now too. So he takes on Geale after Martinez, then drops the belt anyway. Cotto has always done weird career moves like this after leaving Arum. Makes you wonder if it was a good thing for him to become his own boss. I mean the Mayweather paycheck was a success, and he made millions upon millions fighting Martinez. But then there were wtf moments like Trout and now Geale. Canelo is out there and that fight would be huge, but he's just stalling on it.

If Geale beats this guys ass, I will be so happy, then that belt can be defended at the weight it is supposed to be defended at.Comment

They'll want to save face and tell him to cut a step aside deal with GGG. If he doesn't, then they will strip him I think. The new Sulaiman doesn't seem too corrupt.Comment

NOPE. Cotto is just not one for peasant-politics and being dictated to. The kid is a natural born Godfather... He takes NO shorts and will trump the WBC whilst banking an extra 3%.
Cotto is the KING of the trolls and he has mutha****ahs chewing on them TUMS all day.

Cotto been doing what everybody else want his entire career, fighting whoever Arum and HBO put in front of him. Now he is in a position in which he controls EVERYTHING...Good For Him! Boxing is a dirty sport, a sport that use Fighters Up and then throw them away. Cotto last few fights will be ALL ABOUT THE MONEY and I don't blame him one bit as he is near retirement
Of course I would love to see him vs Canelo and/or GGG but clearly he will decided if or when that will happen

Perhaps but the WBC did also have Mayweather's JMW belt on the line when he fought Maidana at 147 in their 2nd fightComment

100% he won't be stripped before the Canelo fight, although Cotto would probably be wise to drop the belt or make it a non-title fight so he can save himself that 3% cuz I imagine the only impact him fighting Canelo for a belt is about 200k+ less dollars in his bank account anyway.Comment
