Well you fought your last 3 fights at 155 which is middleweight lol.
Comments Thread For: Canelo Not Heading To Middleweight Any Time Soon

Until proven otherwise, Lara is not a big light middleweight and he can make 154 comfortably. Canelo, on the other hand, is big for the division, missed weight against Angulo and hasn't fought at the division limit since then. You are a light middleweight contender, you fight at 154 or you move up in weight, period. Canelo's last three fights were at a catch-weight of 155. There is no excuse for that.Comment

Most, if not all, boxers have fought above their current division limit when they were just prospects. All of Lara's meaningful fights against contenders happened at the light middleweight limit: Molina, P.Williams, Hernandez, Vanes, Angulo, Trout, Ishe. Some of them were not even title fights (Molina, Williams, Hernandez, Vanes) but neither Lara nor his opponents used this as an excuse to fight above 154. The last time Lara fought at a catch-weight, it was Canelo who asked for it.

lara started as pro old enough already compared to others, so this prospect excuse goes to the drain...
we can bring many excuses, he was young, he is the A-side, he paid his dues, he is too small, but at the end of the day you either fight at the limit or not, so if anyone is going to start *****in dont bring excuses for others, i personally have no problem with CWs if no title is involved or if no fighters are affected, but i understand others that dont agree with CWs at all, the problem is that there are no rules or regulations for non-title fights, so we cant say that fighters dont play by the rules even know the rules suck...Comment

he fought two boogeymen, trout and lara. he has not been a protected fighter. compare hiim to other 24 year old fighters. errol spence is a year older than canelo, for perspective.
he also fought hte best p4p fighter on the planet, who isn't a natural JMW, but was the best JMW in the world and would be favored over all of the JMW.
you just don't like canelo. never have. not sure why.Comment

The way he got the WBC shot, it was all a bit moody, a bit *****ty like Chavez Jr at 160 getting his WBC belt.
But since then hes been a proud example of a young boxer going for it. Trout unification (after dominating modern legend Cotto) Mayweather, Angulo Lara and then Kirkland.
It's been a good couple of years for Canelo, if he gets the Cotto fight next and beats him, no one will be able to say ****! If he then fights Golovkin (gets knocked out) he'll be a bonafide OG and super star loved the world over.Comment

Of course he's not moving up. He's happy in the 155-lb division. We'll call it the Caneloweight division. I guess Canelo's plan is to beat Cotto and hold the Middleweight WBC and Ring belt hostage away from Middleweights while defending it against Super Welterweights? The WBC claims the winner of Cotto-Canelo must fight GGG, but they previously said the winner of Cotto-Geale had to fight GGG or be stripped. I doubt the WBC will strip Canelo or Cotto, regardless of who wins and how long they duck their mandatory.Comment

Canelo is a here, and there isn't a man out there not named Floyd Mayweather that can do anything about it.
Not your fantasy job Golovkin, and not Cotto. Not bum Andrade. Not any of these guys. And it makes them mad/sad. :'(
DEAL. WITH. IT.

so lara was a prospect for almost 50% of his fights??

This would not look as bad if I was 100% sure Canelo could make 154 without being affected. But since he missed weight against Angulo, he has fought at 155. If a fighter is big for his weight class and wants to rehydrate up to 20 pounds after the weigh-in (cf. Angulo), that's fine, as long as he can come under or right at the division limit. If he can't, or doesn't want to, he has to move up. Canelo wants to fight light middleweights without having to lose that extra pound.Comment
