  • Rewatch and Rescored Khan-Algieri

The first time that I watched the fight last night,I scored it 6-6 feeling that it was a close fight, but those two scorecards that had khan winning 9-3 left a bad taste in my mouth,so i decided to rewatch the fight, and score it again. This is how i scored it(watching it at half speed, with no audio.)

    Round 1:Khan
    Round 2:Algieri
    Round 3:Algieri
    Round 4:Algieri
    Round 5:Algieri
    Round 6:khan
    Round 7:Algieri
    Round 8:Swing round
    Round 9:Algieri
    Round 10:khan
    Round 11:Algieri
    Round 12:swing round

So let me break down my scoring. In the first round, khan was able to mainain the distance, and use his footwork to keep chris at bay,so that round goes to khan. For rounds 2-5 algieri found a home for the jab and the right hand on khans face, while khan was able to only land glancing blows, and flashy combos on chris' gloves. In those rounds, algieri was able to be the agressor, and keep khan khan on the backfoot, while applying smart pressure, and a sustained body attack every time khan tried to tie up and clinch. In round 6 algieri let up on the attack, and khan was able to put together enough solid combos to secure the round clearly. Round 7 chris came back strong and started landing the right hand flush on khans face, and continued to keep up some good body work. Khan kept trying to use his speed to pull away, but chris managed to block most blows with his gloves,so it was an algieri round. Round 8 was a swing round in my eyes, because early on in the round, not much action was to be had,but towards the last 30 seconds, they both let loose some good flurries,so the round could have gone either way. Round 9 was similar to most rounds that aglieri won,in which algieri was landing the right hand almost at will, and khan had no answer for it,so it goes to algieri. Round 10 saw khan land his best punch of the fight, with that flush uppercut up close. with not much action in that round, that punch won the round for khan in my eyes. round 11 was similar to 10,except algieri pushed the pace again, and was outhustling and outworking khan. what sealed the deal in my eyes, was when algieri landed a flush hard right hand that wobbled khan and immediatly made him hold on with 58 seconds to go in the round. Round 12 was a swing round, with both fighters trying to seal the deal, but with khan doing slightly more,so icould see that as a khan round.

So after rewatching the fight,i have it as 7-5 in favor of algieri, with algieri winning 7 clear rounds, khan winning 3 clear rounds, and giving the 2 swing rounds to khan, due to him doing slightly more work in those rounds.

In my honest opinion, algieri put together a great fight plan with jdjs help, while khan seemed to have no answer from a fighter who pressures him, even if that fighter has no real power. The performance that khan showed us last night is in no way deserving of a mayweather fight, and khan should instead fight thurman or brook,in order to make up for the bad performance. if you guys saw the fight another way,or saw the rounds scored differently, feel free to show your opinions, but please use details and examples to explain your opinions.

Similar to my scoring actually. I had Algieri winning by one point. He landed slightly fewer punches but he landed far more legit power punches and was walking Khan down for large portions of the fight.
I'm a neutral observer - nothing against either man.

I'm sorry but I can see no way Aligieri won. Missing punches doesn't score points. Khan did win - poor as he was.

Khan got bullied by a fighter with 8KOs lol. That says enough.

I had Algieri winning by 3 points live, and after watching it today I have Algieri winning by 6 points. And I was a big Khan fan by the way but he ran like a coward.
