Comments Thread For: Algieri: I Was Confident I Beat Khan, I Won The Fight

Former WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri (20-2, 8 KOs) was a heavy underdog in his fight against Amir "King" Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) on Friday night. The two boxers collided in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) card on Spike, which took place at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

After twelve rounds, Khan walked away with the win. The scores were 117-111 on two cards and by 115-113 on the third. Algieri lost for the second time in a row after dropping a twelve round decision to Manny Pacquiao last November in Macua, China.

Khan went into safe mode the last two rounds. I thought it was a draw or the a bit closer on the score cards.

The fact that he actually has a case is a sad indictment on Khan's performance.

I can understand how he feels.

I had Khan 7-5, but it could have been the other way too.

The new, uncaged Algieri is quite exciting to watch lol.

He didn't, but I don't blame him. It was close enough that he should think he won. I could see a draw if you stretch.

He wasn't a "new" Algieri. He just knew he wasn't in the ring with Manny Pacquaio.

He was in against a vulnerable biscuit chinned opponent who he could physically bully and couldn't hurt him back.

Very good performance but no way in hell did he win. Aggression doesn't solely win you rounds, punches landed, thrown and accuracy as well as control of distance wins fights. I've won amateur bouts being on the backfoot for all 3 rounds.

It was a 7-5 Khan type of fight. I was very impressed with Algieri though. 9-3 on two scorecards is a bit of a joke.

He didn't win the fight but the results is almost as good as a win. He mad Khan look very bad. Algieri stock went up and he will get another payday.

Khan's lack of power allows fighters to walk thru him & he struggles inside. I had it real close 7-5 Khan, maybe even 114-114. Algieri's stock definitely went up and a Floyd/Khan is a hard sell if you ask me. Brook would KO Khan and his team know it. Trying to cash out with a Floyd fight. Surely nobody will to see that now.
