I thought he was talking about the Chudinov that just lost to Chris Eubanks Jr

Fedor Chudinov should be Ward's next opponent though not unless something BIGGER becomes available for Ward and he take that instead

agreed all around. There's no pleasing boxing 'fans' when they've made up their mind they don't like a certain guy. They'll find a reason to complain every time out until said fighter eventually suffers a loss, then they'll enjoy it to the full. pretty sad.

although admittedly i have that kind of mindset myself to some degree when it comes to one particularly arrogant and annoying fighter: Amir Khan. but i would give him credit if he took on greater challenges. my dislike for him is largely tied to his selective matchmaking.

I supposed team GGG are lining up contingency plans for September and a mediocre SMW title holder is a decent one, assuming Froch, Lemieux/N'Dam, Lee, DeGale all say no.

Fedor is actually a small SMW and got Sturm at the right time. It would make for a short but fun action fight, but Golovkin would take him apart.

In this forum, it's run by casuals

After 10+ years of fighting the best fighters - Cotto is now a pu**y because in his new weight class, he is not fighting the new flavor of the month in his first or second fight there.

If he's looking for a fight to get acclimated to the SMW division, if the Froch fight falls through, then Chudinov is a worthy opponent. Chudinov is a fringe contender at this point and beating him would take him a step closer to a Ward fight in the future.

Cotto could fight whomever he wanted to IF he was not holding the lineal, WBC and RING titles hostage by not fighting his MANDATORY challenger as set by the WBC. If he vacates the titles, he can go and fight welterweights as far as anyone will care. He wanted to be champ, he should act like it.

He wanted to be champ - so he moved up in weight and beat the best fighter there and took those titles.

Now he's taking a voluntary - LIKE ALL FIGHTERS are alotted. Less than a year ago, Daniel Geale was and STILL is regarded as Golovkin's toughest foe to date:

It’s not uncommon for a fighter with as little on their professional resume as Gennady Golovkin to capture the imagination. Whatever ‘it’ is, Golovkin has captured the essence. He looks the part. His punches sound the part. Even as he already grows older than most realize, it feels like the future of the Middleweight division has arrived and yet is still emerging. But about that resume…

So tell me why is it bad, that as a voluntary to still get accomodated to the weight class that Cotto cannot take on a fighter who still remains on Golovkin's resume as his best opponent to date? Why can't this be a measuring tape type of fight?

I hope, that you as a fan demand that when Golovkin moves up to SMW, that you EXPECT him to fight Ward in his first fight there, otherwise, he needs to stop pretending to be this great and avoided fighter.

In the end, Cotto is in his fourth weight class, 35 years old and will ride off into the sunset waiting for the Hall of Fame. To mirror Cotto, GGG should be fighting Marco Huck or Hernandez, cause you know - great fighters have traveled up weight classes
