If Cotto/Canelo gets made for Sept and stays firm on the date I can see Mayweather/Khan struggling big. Cotto/Canelo>>>>> all day before I buy a ****ty ass fight opponent like Khan.

Comments Thread For: Hearn Confident: Floyd Mayweather Will Not Fight Khan

A lot of posters here clearly didn't read what Hearn said:
"No, [I don't think Mayweather fights Khan]. How can you go from a fight earning over $200 million dollars to a fight earning $60 million dollars and it being potentially tougher. It just doesn't make sense."
It has nothing to do with how "deserving" Khan is and everything to do with how much of a stylistic threat he is to Floyd. He could earn more money, with far less risk, rematching Pacquiao, or even rematching Cotto. If he faces Khan, and potentially loses (or wins by a controversial decision), then he could lose out on the potentially bigger money he could make from a rematch with Pac or Cotto. If Floyd does decide to fight Khan though, then he deserves credit for taking such a risky fight.

Khan has to be one of the biggest idiots in the sport. He missed out on his opportunity to be a two weight champion by not fighting Alexander when he had the IBF strap, then he avoids a big payday against Brook, and instead fights Algieri.
I get the feeling Khan's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

As for Algieri, he's just a stay-busy fight. Khan couldn't arrange any bigger fights because of scheduling issues (and unreasonable demands from Brook and Broner), so he settled with Algieri.

Personally, I don't think Floyd feels Khan is tougher and that he probably will take the fight but it wouldn't surprise me that much to see him fight someone easier like Berto or Garcia either.

Khan is still a front runner to be #49 no matter what anyone says.
Possible #49s;
Danny Garcia
Amir Khan
Miguel Cotto 2
Canelo 2
JMM 2
Floyd owns the months of May and September and will fight JMM in mid September to once again force Canelo to move. Besides, Cotto will play "A" side and he will not fight Canelo on September. Therfore, Floyd fights JMM or Danny Garcia in September.
