Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. vs. Reyes Likely in El Paso, on Showtime

The return of former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is likely heading to El Paso, Texas. The date of July 18th is still firm, against countryman Marco "Dorado" Reyes. According to Chavez Jr., the fight will be televised Showtime in the United States and by Televisa in Mexico.

He makes a quick return to action just three months after losing, by way of knockout in nine rounds, against light heavyweight Andrzej Fonfara at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. It was Chavez's debut with Showtime and manager Al Haymon.

Chavez has been exposed. Even Mexicans turned on him booing and throwing beers at him his last fight. He is a disgrace to boxing.

So this is what showtime has become, a wasteland for grotesque mismatches like wilders next one, or JCC jr's own comedy hour. It should be called blowtime not only because weird al haymon puts **** on the network but because ezpinosa must be blowing some of the execs to keep his job.

They're trying to rebuild Chavez by feeding him Abbie Han's left-overs. Don't understand why his fans continue to support him when he's selfishly let them down repeatedly.

They don't and haven't supported him in a while. The Vera fights had good tv ratings but nobody even showed up. And his last fight against Fonfara had poor ratings and attendance. Mexicans have no respect for Chavez Jr, nor should they.
