Im not one to harp on boxers of prior generations but when you look back at the 70s, 80s, 90s, even early 2000s, guys that used their legs (so called runners) wouldnt use their legs all 12-15rds to avoid a fight, theyd move for foot placement to let their hands go. As for pressure fighters (so called brawlers) theyd actually cut off the ring and use head movement to get inside to create a fight. Either way at some point of a boxing match we'd actually see a fight.

Anyways, is this what we have to look forward to in boxing from now on? & what was it that changed about boxing this generation and what will it take to change it for the future?

Clinching is something i feel needs to be rewritten on the rule book.

It's starting to get ridiculous, we tune in for a fight between two fighters, but we get a clinch fest in return.

Might as well take off the gloves, you don't need them.

Most people who are against clinching are fans of those fighters who are simply unable to fight on the inside or prevent clinching in the first place. It's not hard. But then again, there are belt holders with years of pro experience who still don't know how to cut off the ring so it's not really shocking.

there are 2 different types of fighters. cheaters and non cheaters. the cheaters unfortunately are at the top because of their ability to get away with cheating.

You can't label boxers either runners or brawlers. There are lots of fighters who don't run and they don't brawl. They fight. They fight with skill, courage, speed, power, aggressiveness and intelligence. Canelo, GGG, Matthysse, Thurman, Crawford, Gonzalez, Cotto, Santa Cruz and many others fight like this and I find them a joy to watch.
