  • Comments Thread For: Lo Greco: If No Weight Issues, Porter Will Edge Broner

World ranked welterweight contender Phil LoGreco (26-1, 14 KO) won a unanimous decision over Rafael Cobos on March 6, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This victory followed a loss to Shawn Porter, who is on the books to face Adrien Broner June 20 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.

Lo Greco sees the Broner/Porter match as an entertaining fight. “I think it s a good match up,” he said. “The fact that the weight is 144 makes it more competitive because Broner is the smaller guy. If Shawn doesn't have weight problems, I give him the edge. Broner doesn't like to be bullied as we saw with Maidana. Porter has a better style, but can still bully him.”

If Broner wins, Porter was drained.

If Porter wins, he was too big for Broner.

A completely pointless fight, even though it could be fun.

Boxing is all about divisional supremacy.

I want to see if Broner can establish any type of dominance at 140.

And I want to see if Porter can learn from the Brook outing and move forward at welter, not fcuk around with his weight and waste an opportunity to re-establish himself.

If Broner beats Porter, and Porter blames the weight, then it serves him right. And if Porter then struggles to re-establish himself at 147 after fcuking with his weight and falling so far off the pace..... then he had better hope that the "payday" was worth it.

And if Broner gets starched again at welter, it serves him right for not staying on his side of the fence and expecting opponents to compromise themselves for little-ol-him.

A double-knockout is the best result all round if those guys are not prepared to fight their fellow contenders.

It's 144 + 1 pound is the catch weight...over the past couple years- team Porter keeps him very close to his fighting weight - probably why they took the fight - he doesn't blow up between fights - very fit fighter now

He's had to strip naked in his last few fights to make 147.

Yup, this is the whole point of the fight and choosing Porter with the 144 limit.

Its blatantly a cheap move, however it has a high probability of backfiring on Broner. Porter needs to make sure he doesnt smother himself by moving in too fast and wildly. Pace himself and wait for a clean shot then go for the finish. Broner is not exactly high volume, he likes to posture in there. Still going with Porter.

I'm not saying Broner will get destroyed, but it's hard to imagine him beating a healthy Porter.

Every post in this thread so far, has been about the weight issue.

Nobody is talking about the fighters, just the weight.

                Fkn ridiculous.

The only thing I hate worse than catchweights are casual fans.

Porter is overrated as crap. He is nothing but a stocky football player type with less than mediocre skills. Broner should whip on him relatively easily. Porter is a mauling fouling fighter though so he could probably win K-9 Bundrage style, all sloppy, swarming and unskilled lol. Porter is strong as hell and has a punch but he is nevertheless a B class fighter. Skill-wise Broner runs circles around him.

Well, he ran circles around Maidana skill-wise as well.
