Comments Thread For: Hearn: Froch-Golovkin Will Draw 80,000 at Wembley

Barry Hearn believes a clash between Carl Froch and Gennady Golovkin would fill Wembley Stadium, but admits the ‘Cobra’ is yet to decide his future.

The 37-year-old has been absent from the ring for almost a year following his knockout win over George Groves and recently hinted at retirement after relinquishing his two super-middleweight world titles.

But the prospect of a showdown with middleweight king Golovkin could persuade Froch to extend his career and talks have already been held, with the heavy-hitting Kazakh willing to move up in weight.

It would definitely do 80's Matchroom could market this easily. The fact it would be his last fight doesn't hurt. Why not fight him in Vegas...

I'm not convinced that Froch-GGG would sell out wembley.

If Hearns/Froch were smart they'd book it for Nottingham's football ground and give Froch every possible advantage. GGG is both confident and desperate for the fight so he'd go for it. Less capacity than Wembley but better for Froch imo. Or Old Trafford.

It would sell out any indoor arena - London O2, NEC, Manchester etc no problem. The money will come from PPV - both HBO and Sky.

If HBO make it ppv then GGG might be able to get it in Vegas as, according to Froch, a big fight in Vegas is an unfulfiled ambition. But that's less in his favour.

I'm not convinced. Nobody here except boxing fans know GGG.

I doubt it. It would have to be a ridiculous promotion. No one knows who Golovkin is here.

A return flight from London to San Diego this weekend is about $650 so you'd imagine it's similar the other way around. Then it's probably at least $100 per night to stay in the capital.
