JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR. CHANGES TRAINERS AGAIN: "FOR MY NEXT FIGHT, MY OFFICIAL TRAINER WILL BE ROBERT GARCIA"

By Gary Reynolds | May 24, 2015JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR. CHANGES TRAINERS AGAIN:

"For my next fight, my official trainer will be Robert Garcia," stated former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who recently took to his Twitter page to confirm that he has made yet another change to his team and is now working with world-class trainer Robert Garcia. The decision to switch trainers comes on the heals of Chavez Jr.'s shocking 9th round TKO loss to Andrzej Fonfara last month.

It was the first and only fight that Chavez Jr. had with world-class trainer Joe Goossen, who he decided to work with after parting ways with long-time trainer Freddie Roach. Although an opponent has yet to be finalized, plans are already in the works for Chavez Jr. to make his return to the ring on July 18. The frontrunner to land the assignment is Marcos Reyes (33-2, 24 KOs).

Chavez Jr. can't make 160 anymore which means that his career is done-zo. Once a pretty good MW but that was due to being much bigger than the opposition, all that is lost now.

Eh, I literally don't see him building any type of momentum. Physically he was never all that to begin with, it only mattered when he was outweighing much smaller middles, all that is lost and I don't think catch weights can do the trick. You even had smaller MWs who were able to withstand his power too.

Probably a good move to get the best outcome for Junior. Goosen has always seemed like a trainer who gives you as much or as little as you want. If you half ass it, he's happy to half ass it too. Junior needs someone who gives a ****, but will tell you the reality of the situation like a good father. I also think Garcia is a more knowledgeable cat so its overall a positive move for Junior.

no trainer can fix his weight issues. he can't **** with the light heavies which i think is his "natural weight"

Honestly, I think the timing of this might have been more promotional purposes than anything else (not to take away from what Garcia will hopefully help with). I think his management needed to bring a "what if" and a "lets wait and see" factor back to Chavez Inc. That was a bad, bad loss against Fonfara, I was there at the fight, people were PISSED... the beers were flying into the ring from all directions. Damn near a rock bottom moment. We'll see how it helps him in the ring but for now Garcia can get out there and try to save face for him to the public

This would've always been the best fit for him IMO... Robert isn't going to put up with his BS though he said it himself in a sechback video so who knows how long this will last. JR. catches a lot of ****e on this site but he's not a bum,he has skills and if he's "on" and trained hard he's a tough fight for any of the top guys.
