What are your thoughts on Joseph Parker?

Despite his popularity, unsure if the name rings a bell yet to worldwide boxing fans. He is a heavyweight prospect from New Zealand with a record of 13-0-11 (KO) and is currently ranked #8 with WBO and #10 with WBA. Predominantly of Samoan heritage but has German and English descent.

Mainly fights in New Zealand but has had some international experience fighting in US soil and on the undercard of Klitschko-Leapai, that was hosted in Germany. Has two upcoming boxing bouts in the next month against Yakup Saglam 34-3-31 (KO) of Germany and other is TBA. Also as of right now, there has been comparison between the British heavyweight prospect Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker. With talks of a potential match up in the future.

Anyway, to those who recognized him, what are your thoughts/opinions? Does he have the potential to reach elite status to become champion one day?

Ashamed to admit I've never heard of him. He's got some decent resumes on his record. Going to check him out now.

He probably already has the fastest hand speed of the heavyweights to be honest. Parker is going to be a serious problem if he keeps getting better. Usually Heavyweights are a bit older but he is only 23 so it will be interesting watching him develop. So far I'm very impressed with him probably more so than Anthony Joshua (who I like as well). Parker is more athletic than Joshua, faster hands and he just moves better. I think he is a bit more advanced as far as overall skills go than Joshua.

Joseph Parker and Michael Hunter (his little brother Keith Hunter is a beast also) are two young up and coming Heavyweights that I'm watching very closely! Nobody is talking about now but the Buzz for both will start to get louder very soon.

I prefer him over Joshua. More fluid, quicker hands and throws sharper combinations to body and head.

He's very good considering his age and lack of amateur experience.

He should be kept active against top 26 to 100 journeymen as he develops over the next year, then fight top 11 to 25 fringe contenders. In two years he'll likely be ready for the top HWs.

Of all the up-and-coming heavyweights, I think Parker is the most promising. As others have stated he's got good hand speed, tremendous power and a decent amount of skill. Also, he's got a ferocious 'killer instinct' that many fighters lack today. People tout Bryant Jennings as a future champion but I think Parker is a more likely canidate

Great prospect. He and Joshua are on a collision course.

I've never seen him fight but heard about him on either skysports or boxnation, I think they showed a clip.

From the guys here I'm hearing he has good handspeed so I'll look into it. A cursory look at his resume shows he has had the usual string of journeymen and has-beens, so no idea how he can be differentiated from all the other prospects.
